Vantage is a privacy-minded desktop trading journal designed to keep your core records on your own machine. We do use limited online services for licensing, updates, support, and any integrations you choose to enable, but the product is not built around storing your journal as a hosted cloud dashboard.
Short version: Vantage is built to keep your journal close to you, not turn it into a cloud account. Some online services are still required for licensing, updates, and optional broker connections, but your day-to-day journal data is meant to stay under your control.

1. On-Device Data Model
Vantage is a desktop trading journal. Manual entries, imported trades, journal notes, screenshots, analytics, tags, and playbook data are designed to live locally on your device.
- Stored locally by default: trade database contents, journal entries, screenshots, tags, and analytics outputs.
- Not operated by us as a cloud journal: your core trade history, balances, journal text, and playbook content.
- Your responsibility: because the main database lives on your machine, you are responsible for backups and device-level security.
2. Limited Network Services We Use
Even though Vantage is primarily a desktop product, some network communication is still required to operate the licensed app and optional integrations.
- Licensing and access: the app may contact our services to validate a license, confirm plan access, and keep the licensed product working as intended.
- Basic app health and updates: the app may check for updates and send limited diagnostic information needed to maintain reliability, troubleshoot issues, and improve release quality.
- Optional broker/provider features: if you enable supported integrations, the app may communicate with broker APIs, provider services, or integration partners to bring data into your local app.
3. Data We Do Not Want or Intend To Retain
We do not intend to turn Vantage into a hosted cloud journal. We do not want to build a business around warehousing your trade history, notes, or screenshots unless a specific feature clearly requires temporary transit to complete a sync or import request.
- We do not use your journal as a hosted SaaS dataset.
- We do not market based on your trade content.
- We do not intentionally keep screenshots, journal text, balances, or strategy notes on our servers as part of normal product use.
4. Payments, Licensing, and No Required Website Account
Vantage currently uses purchase partners such as Gumroad for checkout and license fulfillment. The desktop app does not require a separate first-party Vantage website account to activate.
- Purchase records: payment/customer records are handled by the checkout provider under that provider's own policies.
- License validation: we may process your license key or license identifier, app version, device/app identifiers, and related access state to keep the product licensed and secure.
- No mandatory site login: at this time, using the desktop app does not require creating a separate Vantage username/password account.
5. Email, Support, and Marketing
We do not need to force a separate Vantage sign-up just to let you use the desktop app. If we later offer newsletters, support workflows, or launch updates, those should be opt-in and separate from desktop activation.
6. Broker Integrations and Third-Party Services
Vantage integrates with third-party brokers, data providers, and service partners. Those integrations are subject to change, outage, or limitation outside our control.
- Direct API / OAuth integrations: may communicate directly between your machine and the provider, or through a limited bridge needed to complete the connection flow.
- Service risk: we are not responsible for third-party API downtime, delayed data, entitlement changes, or provider-side policy changes.
7. Trade Copier, Signals, and Automation Risk
Vantage includes features that can place or coordinate real orders on connected accounts. You are solely responsible for all trading decisions, broker account configuration, risk limits, and resulting gains or losses.
8. No Financial Advice
Vantage is a software tool. We do not provide financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. Trading futures, options, equities, forex, and crypto carries substantial risk of loss.
9. Liability and Warranty
The software is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. We are not liable for trading losses, missed executions, provider outages, data loss from local-device failure, or interruptions caused by third-party systems.
10. Changes
We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes may be reflected in release notes, the website, or the app itself.
